United Kingdom and Ireland
Business Central partner for the UK and Ireland
Synapserve works as a Business Central partner for UK and Irish companies, with a delivery team in India that plans its day around yours. We set up Making Tax Digital for VAT, handle Irish VAT requirements, and run GBP and EUR books side by side for groups that trade across both markets.
What's different about United Kingdom and Ireland
Making Tax Digital for VAT
VAT-registered businesses in the UK must keep digital VAT records and submit returns through MTD-compatible software. Business Central's UK localisation includes Microsoft's Making Tax Digital feature, which connects to HMRC to retrieve VAT obligations and submit returns. We configure it, check your VAT setup and walk your team through the first submission.
UK GDPR and data access
UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 govern how you handle customer, supplier and employee data. Because our team works from India, access to your data is an international transfer, so we agree suitable contract terms, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, and limit access by role.
Irish VAT
Irish companies file VAT returns and the annual Return of Trading Details with Revenue, and report EU sales through VIES. Depending on your version, these are supported through partner localisation apps or configured reporting in Business Central. We confirm the right option during design rather than assume it.
GBP and EUR in one group
Groups with UK and Irish entities often run GBP and EUR books side by side. Business Central handles multiple currencies, exchange rate updates, revaluation of foreign currency balances and consolidation into a reporting currency. Where goods move between Northern Ireland and the EU, we set up XI VAT numbers in line with the Windsor Framework.
How we help companies in United Kingdom and Ireland
Synapserve schedules its team so that working hours overlap most of the UK and Irish business day, and we agree extended cover in advance for VAT deadlines and go-live.
Questions we're often asked
Can an India-based team be our Business Central partner in the UK?
Yes. We run workshops and testing online, schedule our day to overlap UK hours and keep a named lead on your project. Many decisions in an ERP project happen in documents and shared test environments, which work well across time zones when they are planned.
Does Business Central support Making Tax Digital for VAT?
Yes. The UK localisation includes Microsoft's Making Tax Digital feature for retrieving VAT obligations and submitting VAT returns to HMRC. It needs to be connected and authorised for your VAT registration, which we set up with you.
Can we run UK and Irish companies in one Business Central environment?
Each Business Central environment is created for one country localisation, so groups either run separate UK and Irish environments or handle Irish requirements in a UK environment with partner apps and configuration. The right choice depends on your reporting and consolidation needs, which we work through in design.
How do you handle UK GDPR when your team works from India?
We treat access by our team as an international transfer, put the contract terms your data protection position requires in place, give named accounts only the access each role needs, and avoid copying personal data outside your environment.
Can Business Central report in GBP when some entities trade in EUR?
Yes. Each company has its own local currency, and consolidation translates results into your reporting currency using the exchange rates you set. We configure the rate sources and revaluation routine as part of the finance setup.
