Business Central ERP implementation
A Business Central implementation partner for finance teams that need it to work first time
Synapserve is a Business Central implementation partner that takes Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central from first workshop to a clean month-end close. We map your processes, configure the system, migrate your data from Dynamics NAV, Dynamics GP, QuickBooks, Sage, Tally or Excel, build AL extensions and integrations where standard features stop, and stay with you through go-live. We also upgrade NAV and GP customers and recover implementations that have stalled.
The problems we're brought in to fix
Your implementation stalled or went live badly
The trial balance does not tie out, users have drifted back to spreadsheets and your previous Business Central implementation partner has moved on to other clients. We start with a structured health check of setup, posting groups, dimensions, open entries, permissions and customisations, then give you a fix list ranked by business impact so the most painful issues are closed first.
Years of data you do not trust
Duplicate customers, inactive items, inconsistent units of measure, vendors with three bank accounts and open balances that never quite reconcile. Moving that into a new system unchanged simply moves the problem. Master data needs cleansing and rules before migration, and finance needs a way to prove the opening position is right.
Stuck on Dynamics NAV or Dynamics GP
Older NAV versions are out of Microsoft support and often carry heavy C/AL modifications that nobody wants to touch. Microsoft has published an end-of-support timeline for Dynamics GP. Both need an upgrade path that separates customisations worth keeping from those that standard Business Central now covers.
Month-end held together by re-keying
Orders typed in from the web shop, bank statements matched by hand, reports rebuilt in Excel every month. When the ERP is not connected to the systems around it, the close takes days longer than it should and errors surface only when an auditor or customer finds them.
What we deliver
Discovery and process map
Documented to-be processes for order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, record-to-report, inventory and, where relevant, manufacturing or projects. Every gap is classified as standard feature, configuration, AppSource app or custom extension, so you can see what is being built and why.
Configured Business Central environments
Chart of accounts, dimensions, posting groups, number series, approval workflows, permission sets and user setup in separate sandbox and production environments. Local tax and reporting needs are handled through Microsoft's localisation or certified partner apps, confirmed country by country during discovery.
A tested data migration package
A field-level mapping workbook, cleansing rules agreed with data owners, configuration packages and import routines, and reconciliation reports for trial balance, aged receivables, aged payables and inventory valuation. Finance signs off each mock migration before we schedule the live one.
AL extensions built to survive upgrades
Per-tenant extensions written in AL using events and extension objects rather than base-code changes, kept in your source control with documented code. Built this way, extensions can move with Microsoft's twice-yearly major releases instead of blocking them.
Integrations and Power BI reporting
Connections to e-commerce, CRM, banking, payroll and logistics systems through Business Central APIs, Power Automate or middleware. Reporting through Power BI, including Microsoft's Power BI apps for Business Central where they fit and custom models where they do not.
Training, go-live and support
Role-based training in a sandbox loaded with your own data, a cut-over checklist with named owners, an agreed hypercare period after go-live, and ongoing support from consultants and developers who already know your system.
How a project runs
Every step has an owner on your side and on ours, and nothing moves forward without your sign-off.
Discovery and fit-gap
Workshops by department, walkthroughs of real documents such as invoices, delivery notes and management reports, and agreement on success criteria and a target cut-over date. The output is a process map, a fit-gap list and a dated plan.
Design and build in sprints
We configure in a sandbox and build extensions and integrations in short sprints. Key users see working features at the end of each sprint, so misunderstandings surface in weeks, not at user acceptance testing.
Data cleansing and mock migrations
Master data is cleansed in the source system first. We then run full mock migrations into a sandbox, reconcile every balance, fix the cause of each difference and repeat until the run is clean. Each run is timed so the real cut-over window is known, not guessed.
User acceptance testing and parallel running
Key users work through scripted end-to-end scenarios, from quote to cash receipt and purchase order to payment. Where risk justifies it, we run a parallel test period, processing a real period through both systems and comparing the results line by line.
Cut-over and go-live
A cut-over checklist sets the order of every step: freezing the old system, extracting closing balances, loading open entries, reconciling and opening for business. A go or no-go meeting confirms readiness, and a rollback plan is agreed before anything is switched off.
Hypercare and first month-end
Our consultants stay close during the first weeks of live use and support your team through the first month-end close in Business Central. We then hand over documentation and move you to ongoing support.
Ways to work with us
Full implementation
A phased project from discovery to hypercare, scoped after discovery so the plan reflects your processes, data and integrations rather than a generic template.
Upgrade from Dynamics NAV or GP
An assessment of your existing customisations, a decision on each one (replace with standard, use an AppSource app or rebuild as an AL extension), followed by data upgrade or migration using Microsoft's tools where they fit and our own routines where they do not.
Rescue and ongoing support
A health check of an existing Business Central system, a stabilisation plan for the most urgent issues, then a support and enhancement arrangement so improvements keep coming after the crisis has passed.

Questions we're often asked
What should we look for in a Business Central implementation partner?
Ask how they handle data migration and cut-over, not only configuration. A capable partner will show you a migration plan with mock runs and reconciliations, a cut-over checklist, an approach to extensions that keeps you upgradeable, and the names of the people who will do the work.
How long does a Business Central implementation take?
It depends on the number of companies and countries, the modules in scope, the integrations required and the state of your data. Rather than quote a generic timeline, we give you a dated plan at the end of discovery, built from your actual scope.
Can you migrate our data from NAV, GP, QuickBooks, Sage, Tally or Excel?
Yes. For Dynamics GP and on-premises Business Central, Microsoft provides cloud migration tools, which we use where they fit. Older NAV versions usually need a technical upgrade step first. For QuickBooks, Sage, Tally and spreadsheets we extract, cleanse and load the data through configuration packages and import routines, then reconcile every balance.
Do we bring across full transaction history or just balances?
Most clients migrate master data, opening balances and open entries such as unpaid invoices and open orders, and keep detailed history in an archive or reporting database that Power BI can read. We help you decide based on audit, reporting and operational needs rather than migrating everything by default.
Can you take over a project another partner started?
Yes. We begin with a health check of the system, the extension code and the outstanding issues, then agree a stabilisation plan. We will need administrative access to your environments and, ideally, the source code for any extensions built so far.
Does Business Central handle Indian GST and UK VAT?
Microsoft provides Business Central localisations for both countries, covering areas such as GST and TDS in India and VAT, including Making Tax Digital submissions, in the UK. For other countries we use Microsoft's localisation or certified partner apps and confirm coverage during discovery.
Who owns the AL extensions you build?
You do. Extension source code lives in your repository, with documentation, so you are never locked in to us for future changes.
