E-commerce development and replatforming
A Shopify development agency for stores that stay in sync with your operations
Synapserve is a Shopify development agency that also builds on Adobe Commerce and BigCommerce. We design fast storefronts, move stores between platforms without throwing away search rankings, and connect stock, orders and prices to Business Central so the website and the warehouse tell the same story.
The problems we're brought in to fix
The website sells stock you no longer have
Inventory updates once a night, so a busy afternoon oversells and customer service spends the next morning cancelling orders and apologising. Prices, customer-specific terms and product data drift between the store and the ERP in the same way, and nobody is sure which system is right.
Your store got slower with every app
Each app, tracking script and theme tweak added weight. Mobile pages now load slowly, Core Web Vitals fail in Search Console, and both conversion rate and organic visibility pay for it. Removing things feels risky because nobody knows what each script does.
Replatforming feels too risky to start
Years of URLs, customer accounts, order history and integrations sit on an ageing platform that is expensive to maintain. A badly planned move can lose rankings overnight, which is why choosing a Shopify development agency or Adobe Commerce team with a real migration method matters more than the new theme.
Web orders are re-keyed into the back office
Orders are exported to spreadsheets or typed into the ERP, returns and refunds are handled twice, and finance cannot reconcile payment provider payouts against invoices without a day of manual work each month.
What we deliver
Shopify and Shopify Plus builds
Custom Online Store 2.0 themes, Shopify Functions for discount, delivery and payment logic, checkout extensibility on Shopify Plus, B2B features and Shopify Markets for local currencies and languages. We keep the app list short and build custom where an app would add page weight or monthly cost without enough value.
Adobe Commerce and BigCommerce builds
Adobe Commerce (Magento) builds, upgrades and extension work for complex catalogues, multi-store setups and B2B requirements, and BigCommerce builds where its B2B Edition and open APIs fit. We recommend the platform that suits your catalogue, team and roadmap, and explain the trade-offs in writing.
Replatforming without losing search traffic
A complete URL inventory with 301 redirects, migration of products, customers, order history and content, and checks on canonical tags, structured data and internal links. Customer passwords cannot be moved between platforms, so account reactivation emails are planned as part of the launch rather than discovered afterwards.
Performance and Core Web Vitals
Audits based on real-user field data from Search Console and the Chrome UX Report, then fixes for Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift: image delivery, script loading order, app clean-up, font handling and theme code.
Headless storefronts
Headless builds with Shopify Hydrogen, BigCommerce Catalyst or a Next.js front end on a commerce API, when content-heavy experiences, several storefronts or demanding performance targets justify the extra engineering. We will tell you plainly when a well-built theme is the better choice.
Stock, order and price sync with Business Central
Sync of items, stock levels, prices, customers, orders, shipments and refunds between your store and Business Central, using Microsoft's built-in Shopify connector where it fits and a custom or middleware integration where it does not. Failed messages land in a monitored queue with clear error details instead of failing silently.
How a project runs
Every step has an owner on your side and on ours, and nothing moves forward without your sign-off.
Discovery and audit
We review your catalogue, traffic and conversion data, apps, integrations and back-office processes, and identify what must carry over, what can be dropped and what is currently costing you sales.
Platform and architecture decision
We compare platform options against catalogue complexity, B2B needs, markets, team skills and total running cost including apps and hosting, then agree on theme or headless and on how the store will exchange data with the ERP.
Design and build
Mobile-first design using your brand, built in short iterations you review on a development store, with a performance budget checked as features are added rather than at the end.
Data migration and integration testing
Products, customers, orders and content move through repeatable scripts, and the ERP sync is tested with real scenarios, including partial shipments, back orders, returns, price changes and multiple locations.
Launch with SEO safeguards
Redirect testing, a pre-launch crawl, analytics and conversion tracking checks, and a planned cut-over window. After launch we watch crawl errors, rankings, Core Web Vitals and order flow closely and fix issues quickly.
Optimise and support
Ongoing work on speed, conversion and new features, platform and app updates, and monitoring of the integrations that keep the store and the ERP in step.

Questions we're often asked
Why choose a Shopify development agency that also works with ERP?
Many of the problems that hurt e-commerce margins happen after the order is placed: stock accuracy, fulfilment, returns and reconciliation. A team that understands Business Central can design the storefront and the back-office flow together, so the integration is part of the plan rather than an afterthought.
Should we move from Magento to Shopify?
It depends on your catalogue, customisations and team. Shopify removes most hosting and upgrade work, while Adobe Commerce gives deeper control over complex B2B pricing, configurable products and heavily customised flows. We assess your requirements and running costs and give you a written recommendation either way.
Will replatforming hurt our Google rankings?
Every migration carries some risk, but most ranking losses come from broken or missing redirects, dropped content, changed internal linking or lost structured data. We map every URL with traffic or backlinks, test redirects before launch and compare crawls before and after, which keeps that risk under control.
Does Business Central integrate with Shopify out of the box?
Business Central includes a Shopify connector from Microsoft that syncs products, inventory, customers and orders, and it handles many standard scenarios well. For complex pricing, unusual fulfilment flows or stores on Adobe Commerce and BigCommerce, we extend the setup or build an integration through APIs or middleware.
When does a headless storefront make sense?
When you need content-rich experiences, several storefronts on one back end, or design and performance freedom a theme cannot give. Headless adds hosting, development and maintenance overhead, so for many stores a fast, well-built Shopify theme is the better investment.
Can you improve Core Web Vitals without rebuilding our store?
Usually, yes. The biggest gains tend to come from removing or replacing heavy apps, deferring third-party scripts, serving correctly sized images and fixing layout shifts in the theme. We measure with field data, so improvements show up for real visitors and not only in lab tests.
